What it is
Naga Studio is an open-source macOS app by Marc Lou on GitHub, made for the Razer Naga V3 Pro mouse. The 12 side buttons, plus right click, wheel click and wheel tilt, can be set to mouse clicks, copy and paste, tab switching, Mission Control, screenshots, media keys, any keyboard shortcut you record, a text snippet, or opening an app. You can give this mouse its own natural or standard scrolling while the trackpad keeps its setting, save button setups as profiles and switch them from the window or the menu bar, and see the battery level, read from the mouse over Bluetooth, in the menu bar. The mouse drawing in the window lights up as you press buttons, and if a button sends something unexpected, Detect lets you bind it again. The author says on X that he asked Opus 5.5 to build him this macOS app. What sets it apart is that it installs no kernel extension: the README says it uses an event tap in user space to see input first and rewrites only what comes from this mouse, so your keyboard and trackpad work as usual.
Who it's for:Mac users with a Razer Naga V3 Pro who want to arrange the side buttons themselves, and who are comfortable granting it high-level system permissions.
Before you start: you need macOS 15 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. The author has only tested the Naga V3 Pro over Bluetooth; other Naga models are untested. The download isn't notarized by Apple, so macOS blocks the first launch and you have to click Open Anyway under System Settings, Privacy & Security. The README also gives a Terminal command that uses xattr to remove the quarantine flag; think it over before running it. The app needs Accessibility permission, and the README says macOS requires this before any app can read and remap input. The source code also requests Input Monitoring permission. With these permissions it sees every keyboard and mouse event at the system level before other apps do, rewrites the ones from the Naga, and can simulate key presses, clicks, typed text and app launches. Bluetooth permission is used only to read the battery. The README says the app has no network code, no analytics and no accounts, and keeps its settings in your Mac's user defaults; we haven't installed it to check. It runs in the background and can open at login. The DPI, scroll mode, AI Prompt and ring finger buttons are handled by the mouse and usually send nothing to the Mac, so they can't be remapped, and left click can't be remapped so you can't lock yourself out.
