What it is
MyTripPlanner is a road-trip planner by GitHub user Prot10 that runs on your own computer. It covers itineraries, maps, hotel and restaurant search, budgets and photos. Its AI agent, Ulisse, runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription: chat with it and it edits your itinerary directly and looks things up online. In the author's online demo, Ulisse is a pre-written script, not a real model. The interface comes in Italian and English.
Who it's for:Road-trippers who want itineraries, maps and budgets in one place and don't mind installing software themselves.
Before you start: You need Node 20.19 or later. The author provides launchers for macOS, Windows and Linux; the first run installs dependencies, builds the app and starts a local server. Docker and an installable web app (PWA) are also options. The AI features need your own subscription, such as Claude Pro or Max or ChatGPT Plus, and usage counts against it. Trips, photos, chats and login credentials are saved in a Documents/Ulisse folder by default; signing in to Claude captures a long-lived token and stores it in auth.json. Your conversations go to the model provider you pick, and places and dates are sent to Booking, Google and map services for searches. When it searches Booking and Google, its browser settings hide signs of automation; a code comment by the author says this is so the page passes bot checks. If you use these features, weigh the safety risks yourself. AI Inspiration World is not responsible for any consequences. The main app is open source, and the author says the map and other public services are free. License: AGPL-3.0 or later. Commercial use is fine, but if you distribute a modified version or offer it as a network service, AGPL's source-sharing terms apply.
