What it is
JobSync is an open-source project published by the GitHub user Gsync. The README describes it as a self-hosted job search assistant with AI resume review, job matching and automated discovery. A built-in scheduler searches for roles through the official public job APIs of Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby, without your login cookies and without API keys for those platforms. New roles land in a review list and go into your tracker only after you accept them. AI Inspiration World found no feature that submits applications or messages recruiters for you. When you import a resume, it asks you to confirm each card. The README sets no rule against invented content, so check what the AI produces. There is also an interview question bank for practice ahead of time.
Who it's for:Job seekers who want their job search, resumes and application status on a server they control. It needs a Docker deployment, so readers who don't use the command line won't be able to run it.
Before you start: Start it with docker compose; the first run pulls a prebuilt image. The model you use must support structured output and tool calling. Documentation is in English only. Data is stored in SQLite on your own server, and the default model is a local Ollama model. If you switch to a cloud model, the relevant resume and job descriptions go to that provider, so the README's claim that data never leaves your server holds only with a local model. The Docker setup enables MCP by default; you issue the token yourself, and any AI tool holding it can read and write your job search data. Run it on your own machine or a private network, and use HTTPS for remote access. The README's update method downloads deploy.sh with curl and pipes it to sudo bash; the script pulls new code and stops and recreates the containers. AI Inspiration World does not recommend running a remote script that way. Read the script first, then run the matching Docker Compose commands yourself. The software is free with no paid tier. Local models have no API cost, and cloud models are billed by their providers. MIT license.
