What it is
jev-seo is an open-source SEO audit tool by GitHub user AgriciDaniel. Give it a homepage URL and it crawls the site, checks pages against 52 rules drawn from Google Search Central according to the project's documentation, measures Core Web Vitals, and produces reports in PDF, Excel, and Markdown. It runs from the terminal and can also be used as a Claude Code skill, so an AI agent can call it. Large sites are sampled, with a default cap of 60 pages.
Who it's for:site owners and developers who want to find search-engine issues on their own sites. Setup happens in the terminal, so readers who don't write code may find it hard to use.
Before you start: you download the repository to your computer and need Python 3.10 or later plus system libraries such as Pango, and Playwright if you want JavaScript pages rendered. The core checks need a TYPESAFE_API_KEY; without it the tool still runs, but the report is marked as a partial audit. Full mode also needs a DataForSEO account, and a PageSpeed key is optional. The documentation estimates about US$0.01 per site in standard mode and about US$0.30 in full mode; actual third-party prices are set by each provider. MIT license.
