What it is
InkOS is a story-writing agent system open-sourced by GitHub user Narcooo. The README says long serials, short stories, scripts, fan fiction, imitation and continuation, interactive film games and long-form translation can all start from the same workspace. It ships with 19 specialised Skills that share one set of state, memory and tools, so it can remember what happened earlier in a long story, play out different plot branches, review and revise drafts, and make covers. Its main strength is keeping track of characters and earlier chapters across a long serial. It comes with a Studio interface, a terminal interface and a command line; we read the documentation for the 2.0 development branch.
Who it's for:writers working on long novels and scripts, and teams running narrative projects or long translations.
Before you start: you connect a model service and pay by usage, or use Ollama or LM Studio locally. Your manuscript, character notes and review material go to the service you configure, and according to the source docs your keys are kept in the project's .inkos/secrets.json file. It can keep writing chapters in the background on its own and notify you through Telegram, Feishu, WeCom or a webhook. The code is under the AGPL-3.0 licence. Importing other people's material or style for fan fiction, imitation or continuation carries copyright risk.
