What it is
Imza is a terminal coding agent written in C++ by Umut Sevdi, for macOS, Linux and Windows. The problem the author wants to solve: agents write code faster than you can read it, so developers slowly stop reading. Imza splits the work into three modes. In Plan, it only reads the repository and writes a Markdown spec with you. In Build, it follows the spec and streams every change as a diff the moment it is written. In Review, the whole change lands in a code review view, and your findings go back into the next plan. It works with OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible cloud models or a local endpoint, and supports MCP. Reading the code stays part of every round, and that is the main difference from other coding agents.
Who it's for:Developers who code with AI and still want to see every change. Readers who don't write code won't get much from it.
Before you start: It runs in the terminal and the documentation is in English. You set up the model yourself, with your own API key, a supported subscription or a local compatible endpoint. With a cloud model, your prompts and the relevant code go to that provider, and you pay its rates. Imza stores its own connection credentials in the system keychain. Running --update yourself downloads and installs the new version. It is licensed GPL-3.0 or later.
