What it is
FilmCraft is the video app in the "Craft" series from the ArtCraft team at the storytold organization. It is a native non-linear editor for cutting, color correction, audio and subtitles. The README says "every action in the app is a command that an AI agent can drive as precisely as you can," and the engine exposes more than 650 commands through the CLI, a JSON TCP control interface or MCP. The author is also upfront that there are "few so far" AI features, and speech to text is optional and off by default. It runs on macOS, Windows, Linux and in the browser through WebAssembly.
Who it's for:people who edit video on their own computer and want to try handing editing steps to an AI agent.
Before you start: download a release build or build it from source. The control interface lets an agent click, drag, type and take screenshots inside FilmCraft's own window, and the example port for --control is 9876. This project may control your computer, phone, or many account permissions. AI Inspiration World has not tested it and does not recommend it. The first release, v0.1.0, came out on October 2, 2026, so the project is very new. Licensed under MIT or Apache-2.0, at your choice; the ArtCraft name and logo are covered by a separate trademark license. Based on the project's public documentation. Not tested by AI Inspiration World.
