What it is
FigCraft is an open-source interface design and prototyping app from the GitHub organization storytold. It has frames, auto layout, components, variables, vector editing, prototyping and collaboration. The AI part comes from outside agents: through more than 400 shared commands, an agent edits designs from the command line, JSON or MCP. The app itself has no built-in generative model. The README says "anything you can click, a script or an AI agent can do too." It runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and the web.
Who it's for:Interface designers, product teams, and anyone who wants an AI agent to edit designs or export screens.
Before you start: Download a release package or build from source with Rust. Local editing is free and needs no account. Online sharing is optional. Clicking Share Online uploads the whole file, including images, layer names and comments, to the developer's server at collab.craftapps.dev. The server does not use end-to-end encryption: files are stored in plain text and the operator can read them. Stopping a share only revokes the link; the file stays until you remove it yourself or nobody opens it for 30 days. AI Inspiration World does not recommend sharing unreleased designs this way. Local network sharing skips the cloud but is not encrypted either. The repository also includes a self-hosted server installer, packaging/server/install.sh. It uses root to install a service, create a system user, change firewall and web server settings and add a system service that starts on boot; if Rust is missing, it downloads a script with curl and runs it. AI Inspiration World does not recommend running this script unless you are a server administrator who knows exactly what it does. Once connected, an agent reads your design content, and if it uses a cloud model, the content goes to the model provider. The project is in an early alpha stage. The English, Russian and Turkish interfaces were reviewed by native speakers, while Simplified Chinese and the other languages are still draft translations.
