What it is
Cindy is an open-source AI agent from the makecindy team, with desktop and mobile apps. The README says it brings multiple harnesses, models and tools into one agent that finishes real work in your projects and apps, and it can connect to tools such as Claude Code and Codex. What sets it apart is that your workspace, memory and Skills carry over when you switch harness or model. You can skip sign-in and use local agents; cloud features need a Cindy account. The README is in English and Chinese.
Who it's for:users and developers willing to let AI act on their projects, files and apps, and able to check its permission settings.
Before you start: it can drive your signed-in browser, computer and phone, receive instant messages and run scheduled tasks. We don't recommend letting it act on your accounts, computer or phone, or run scheduled tasks on its own, without confirming each action. By default it connects to the official cloud service and CDN. Official builds include TapDB, which collects device, operating system and version statistics linked to your account once you sign in, and cloud sign-in sends a periodic online signal. The README says it doesn't collect chats, files or working directories and keeps crash dumps local without uploading them; we didn't check module by module how it stores keys. The client is free and can use your own Claude or Codex subscription, an API or local models; the official Cindy service is billed by usage. The source is under the Apache-2.0 licence, and the cloud backend isn't in this repository.
