What it is
CADCraft is an open-source CAD drafting app from the GitHub organization storytold. You type drawing commands such as LINE and CIRCLE at its command line, manage layers, add dimensions, and save or export to formats including DXF and DWG. The AI part comes from outside agents. The README says "Agents can type at the command line exactly like a person": an agent can run drawing commands, inspect the drawing, query shapes and render views, while the app itself has no built-in generative model. People and agents draw with the same commands, so anything you can do at the command line, an agent can do too. It runs on macOS, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD, and you can build a web version yourself.
Who it's for:People who draft floor plans or technical drawings, and anyone who wants an AI agent to batch-draw or export drawings.
Before you start: Download a release build, or build from source with Rust 1.95 or newer; the web version has to be built and hosted by you. The README says it is free, with no account and no subscription; agent and model costs depend on the tools you choose. Drawings, fonts and exports stay on your computer. When an agent connects over MCP, it can read the shapes and rendered views in your drawing, and if that agent uses a cloud model, the content goes to the model provider. The README also supports LISP routines, scripts and alias files for customization; don't run scripts from unknown sources. The interface is in English with several translations, and Simplified Chinese needs a CJK font installed. DWG and DXF compatibility and mobile use were not verified in our check. Licensed under MIT or Apache-2.0, your choice.
