What it is
Agent Skills CLI is an open-source command-line tool by Karanjot Singh (GitHub user Karanjot786); once installed, you use it through the skills command in your terminal. It finds Skills in the agentskills.in marketplace, on GitHub, in private Git repositories and in npm packages, then installs them into the Skill folder of each AI coding agent you pick. The README lists 45 agents, including Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex and Windsurf, and says the marketplace indexes more than 222,000 Skills. Besides Skills, it can install MCP servers, subagents and plugins, and it has commands to list what's installed, update, remove, diagnose your setup and give a Skill a quality score. Every install runs a security scan first and stops on critical findings; the README is clear that the scan is an automated signal, so you should still read a Skill before running it. What sets it apart is that one install can write to several AI tools at once, and a context budget command loads only the Skills that fit and matter most for the current project. Teams can use a .skillsrc config file and lockfile installs so everyone ends up with the same Skills.
Who it's for:developers and teams who use several AI coding tools and want one way to manage their Skills. This is a developer tool; readers who don't write code won't get much from it.
Before you start: you need Node.js 18 or later and a global npm install. For private repositories, it looks for credentials on its own, in this order: a --token flag, environment variables (GH_TOKEN, GITLAB_TOKEN, BITBUCKET_TOKEN, GIT_TOKEN), your SSH keys, the Git credential helper, and finally your .netrc file, so any Git account already signed in on your computer will be used. Installing an MCP server rewrites each AI tool's config file; the README says it writes a .bak copy first, merges instead of overwriting, and refuses config files that contain comments. Quit clients such as Claude Code before a global install. By default it sends one anonymous count to agentskills.in every time you run a command. The README says this holds only the command name and CLI version, never arguments, Skill names, search text or file paths, and that the server keeps no IP addresses; we can't verify that. It is off in CI, and setting DISABLE_TELEMETRY=1 or DO_NOT_TRACK=1 turns it off everywhere. The --all flag writes to every supported agent, -y installs every Skill found without asking, and --skip-audit skips the security scan; we suggest avoiding all three and running --dry-run first to see what would be installed. skills submit-repo sends a repository you name to the marketplace for indexing.
