What it is
ADV.JS is an open-source text adventure engine by YunYouJun, who calls it a Markdown text adventure engine for the AI era. Scripts are written in Markdown. After creating a project from the command line, you can install ADV.JS Skills and MCP into agents such as Codex, Claude Code or Cursor and have them write and revise the story, then polish, playtest and build it in the local Editor and deploy it as a web game you can share. It can also run as a story runtime inside an existing web game. There is also an account-based Studio aimed at AI creation on phones; the author says its accounts, billing and mobile flow are still being developed separately. The AI draft, your edits and the final deploy all live in one Markdown project, so nothing has to be converted along the way.
Who it's for:Creators and developers who want AI help writing text adventures or visual novels and are happy to polish the result themselves.
Before you start: You need Node.js. The first release supports Chromium-based browsers; Firefox and Safari aren't covered yet. Deploying to Cloudflare means signing in with your own Cloudflare account. With Studio's hosted AI, allowed project files go to the service and are paid for with AI points, whose price isn't stated. The documentation is mostly in Chinese. The source code is MPL-2.0; the bundled sample story and its images, audio and video are CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, for non-commercial use only.
Based on the project's public documentation. Not tested by AI Inspiration World.
