What it is
ACP-Bridge is an adapter written in Rust by Blake Hung (Blake Labs, GitHub BlakeHung). It connects a model you host yourself, such as Ollama on your machine or any OpenAI-compatible service, to developer tools that support the Agent Client Protocol (ACP), like Zed, JetBrains and ACP UI. Once connected, the model can chat with streaming replies and call tools to read files, search code, edit files, run shell commands and use git. It isn't a model itself; what it does depends on the model you configure.
Who it's for:Developers who want a self-hosted model as their coding assistant inside the editor they already use. Readers who don't write code won't get much from it.
Before you start: You need Rust; install with cargo build --release or cargo install --git, and have a local or configured model endpoint ready (by default it connects to Ollama on your machine). Your editor launches it as a subprocess. Docs are in English. It has built-in tools for reading and writing files, editing, running bash commands and making git commits. File paths are limited to the working directory, but bash commands run directly with only a starting directory set, and there's no OS-level isolation. Your prompts, code and tool results go to the model address you set, which is local by default but can point to another host; web fetching is off by default until you allow it. It can make local git commits; no push or auto-posting features were found. If you use these features, weigh the safety risks yourself. AI Inspiration World is not responsible for any consequences. The tool is open source; compute or external model costs are on you. MIT license.
